Meet Your Future Best Friend 🐾

Hi there! My name is Freckles, but most of the time I go by Rupert, Rupie, Rupes and even Rupie-doodles. My foster family has a lot of silly names for me and I love them all. I didn't have the best start in life and needed a new name to match my silly personality! I’m a sweet, goofy boy with a one-of-a-kind smile thanks to my adorable little overbite, and the tiny freckles sprinkled across my nose.

I’m a smart pup who loves to learn and is always eager to please. I pick up on training quickly, and would thrive with a family that enjoys spending time teaching me new things, playing with me, and helping me continue to build my confidence. Daily mental and physical stimulation through training, enrichment, and exercise helps me be my very best self.

I had a rough start in life and wasn’t always safe in my first home. Because of that, it can take me some time to trust new people. I’m slow to warm up, but I’ve shown that with patience, consistency, and kindness, I can build deep bonds and become incredibly attached to my people. Once you earn my trust, I am one of the most loving and loyal companions you could ask for.

I do tend to prefer women and generally warm up to them more quickly, but I have done well around men too. If there are men in the home, they may simply need to put in a little extra time and effort to build a bond of trust with me. I’m worth the investment, I promise!

When it’s time to play, I bring endless enthusiasm and joy. I love to run, explore, and have fun. Some of my favorite activities are hiking and playing with my dog friends. So, I need an active family that will make exercise a priority. Even though I love playing, at the end of the day, I’m happiest curled up next to my favorite person for a movie night or a good night’s sleep.

I get along beautifully with my foster dog siblings and have been gentle and respectful with the foster cats. Because I love canine companionship so much, I would do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog who would enjoy my joyful puppy energy and help show me the ropes.

I’m looking for an active, dog-savvy family that understands the importance of leadership, structure, and training. I need people who are committed to investing time in building a strong relationship with me and helping me continue to grow into the amazing dog I’m meant to be. I’m eager to learn, eager to please, and I truly want to be a great companion.

I’m definitely a "Velcro dog" and love being with my people. I don’t enjoy being left alone for long periods and would thrive in a home where I can be included in daily life and become a true member of the family.

I’m still working on my potty training, but I’m making great progress with a patient and consistent approach.

Because trust is so important to me, I would benefit from multiple meet-and-greets with potential adopters before making a final match. Taking the time to build a connection will help set all of us up for success and allow my true personality to shine.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, playful companion who will make you laugh every day with silly antics, keep you company on adventures, and reward your patience with unwavering devotion, I might just be the perfect addition to your family.
