NY Freckles Aug 1(Tractor Supply Patterson NY)

Bio:

I can be met at Tractor Supply 1253 NY-311, Patterson, NY 12563 on Saturday, Aug 1st from 10am to Noon.

Hi there! My name is Freckles, but most of the time I go by Rupert, Rupie, Rupes and even Rupie-doodles. My foster family has a lot of silly names for me and I love them all. I’m a sweet, goofy boy with a one-of-a-kind smile thanks to my adorable little overbite, and the tiny freckles sprinkled across my nose.

I’m a smart pup who loves to learn and play. I pick up on training quickly, and would thrive with a family that enjoys spending time teaching me new things, playing with me, and helping me continue to build my confidence. Daily mental and physical stimulation through training, enrichment, and exercise helps me be my very best self. Some of my favorite activities are hiking and playing with my dog friends. So, I need an active family that will make exercise a priority. I also live with cats and have shown that I can be respectful and kind with them as well.

I had a rough start in life and wasn’t always safe in my first home. Because of that, it can take me time to trust new people. I’m slow to warm up, but I’ve shown that with patience, consistency, and kindness, I can build deep bonds and become incredibly attached to my people. Because trust is so important to me, I would benefit from multiple meet-and-greets with potential adopters before making a final match. Taking the time to build a connection will help set all of us up for success and allow my true personality to shine.

No shade to the men, but I prefer women and generally warm up to them more quickly. I have shown that I can play and engage well with men, but women and other dogs make me feel the most safe and secure.

My best match would include:

-A home where my main caregiver(s) are women

-A potential adopter that will commit to multiple meet and greets that would include the other dogs in the home to build trust and connection

-An active family that will take me on adventures such as daily walks and hikes

-A home that has one or two other dogs that would enjoy a friend and playful puppy energy.

-A dog saavy family that understands the importance of leadership and training

-A family that is home often or works from home. I would not do well in the crate for traditional work hours such as 8 hours a day, but have done well for 3-5 hours at most.
